- Chehalem House Founded in Newberg, Oregon as a home for delinquent teenage
girls.
1976 - Transition
to residential care for children aged 11 to 14 with both developmental and emotional
disabilities.
1990 - Second home
purchased to provide to provide foster care for children completing treatment
when private home placement was not available.
1991 - Second home
converted to residential treatment of developmentally delayed children suffering
from psychological and emotional disorders.
1997 - Third home
opened to serve the growing population of developmentally and emotionally disturbed
children.
1998 - Fourth home
opened to focus on the needs of girls with a history of trauma. CYFS School:
1996 - Alternative
school for troubled youth is developed.
1997 - A second classroom
established for special educational services for at-risk youth, renamed CYFS
School in 1999. Community Services:
1994 - Parenting
Training & Community Education began offering a variety of successful curriculums.
1994 - Northwest
Passage developed to provide camping and wilderness experiences for at-risk
youth.
1995 - Intensive
Family Services began a partnership with the local branch of Services to Children
& Families to preserve families and prevent family dissolution.
1996 - Outpatient
Counseling Center opened a mental health outpatient service to better meet the
needs of the community.
